Thank god this season is almost over, a season of nearly succe ses for the skyblues, just another rubbish season for us fans, all the troubles and changes certainly havent helped, hopefully we can sort everything out over the summer and go for promotion next year.In a game where nothing mattered to Coventry, everything mattered to the away side Leyton Orient who still dreamt of a slim chance of getting into the play offs, despite the win today it wasnt enough due to Swindon Town winning.Teams:Coventry City: Joe Murphy, Cyrus Christie, Aaron Martin, Richard Wood, Jordan Stewart (Jordan Clarke 45), Franck Mou sa, Steven Jennings (Callum Wilson 76), Carl Bob McAdoo Jersey Baker (c), David Bell, John Fleck, Danny Philliskirk (Cody McDonald 70)Subs: Chris Dunn, Connor Thomas, Gary McSheffrey, William EdjengueleLeyton Orient: Jamie Jones, Leon McSweeney, Gary Sawyer, Romain Vincelot, Dean Cox, Kevin Lisbie, Jimmy Smith, Nathan Clarke (c), Moses Odubajo, Lee Cook (Lloyd James 85), Martin RowlandsSubs: Lee Butcher, Harry Lee, DeReece Vanderhyde Orient couldnt even fill the bench!GOALS-Cox (45)Bookings-Wood, Bell, Christie, J Clarke, Rowlands, N ClarkeAttendance- 11,234 (893 away)It was the skyblues to test goalkeeper Jones first with Fleck firing a long range effort with the keeper saving well. Jordan Stewart also went close with a volley after a Quentin Richardson Jersey corner was cleared, forcing the keeper to make a save, least he got it on target! Best chance of the half went to debutant Philliskirk as Jennings played him through on goal and the out rushing Jones was enough for Philliskirk to stab the ball towards goal with the keeper stopping the ball with the follow up bringing out a last ditch block from McSweeney, great defending! The away side came into the game after that with a Cook free kick which mi sed everybody and just flew wide, along with a Lisbie effort which fired just wide as well. It was the away side who scored on the stroke of half time, on the counter attack Lisbie played a ball acro s the box which Cox fired home past Murphy, such an easy goal to concede. The away side continued where they left off in the second half with a Rowlands free kick just going wide. Injury plagued Bell starting his first game of the season for Coventry had a hat trick of chances with all of them flying just wide of the goal. It was the right side of the two full backs to have a crack at goal with Christie hitting a volley just over the Serge Ibaka Jersey bar, whilst the best chance of the half falling to Mou sa who fired a ferocious shot just wide, Lisbie got the only notable chance for the away side poking on a cro s towards goal, with Murphy saving well. That was it for the second half.Overall the game wasnt full of chances, but Leyton Orient took theirs, something we havent done this season. Hopefully we can just kick on and put this season to bed at Notts County next week. PUSB
